Did you know that Berlin provides more bridges than Venice?
My hometown is Berlin, the capital city of Germany. Berlin is a crowded and wild place. I live in Berlin for 22 years and I still have a lot to discover. There are a lot of fascinating things going on. In Berlin I work in a large theatre, that makes shows almost every day. One day during work, a man came to our office to have a look backstage, I felt like I knew his face, when he went out my colleagues were very excited, because he was a famous singer in Berlin.
It feels like everything can happen in this city.
We have beautiful stylish places as well as places where you are afraid to stay during the night time. You often say Berlin people are unfriendly. That’s completely true. I mean not all of them, but when you need to use the train in the morning, you see long faces staring at their phone. When I came to Liverpool I was surprised how friendly strangers can be. It feels like being part of a community that takes care of each other. Nevertheless, I miss my home town. Some people might not be friendly but they are honest.
The city is exciting. We have a lot of trees to fresh up our air, we also have a very small mountain in Berlin, the best place to see the fireworks at new years beginning. The small mountain is called Teufelsberg. Full of nature and as well a discovering adventure.
To see one of the most beautiful bridges in Berlin, have a look at the Schloss Charlottenburg. Full of green spaces and a river. Behind the castle, there is a huge park which is a wonderful place to relax. Or maybe visit the “Tiergarten” another great natural place with a river and lots of trees. Did you know that Berlin even has a small waterfall? If you want to have a look at it, visit the “Viktoriapark”.
The city is full of life, every day there are hundreds of events taking place. The city is openminded and consists of many different cultures. That is what makes the city an interesting place, you get to know people of so many different cultures, just by walking through the streets.
No matter what your interests are, there are a lot of people who share them.
Poetry slam, dancing classes, painting, improvisational theatre, etc. Almost everything you can think of. You are interested in history and culture? Then the “Museumsinsel” in Berlin is the place to visit.
Or are you interested in skating at an airport? “Tempelhof” used to be an airport in Berlin, nowadays you can visit the space and use the runway to skate on it. Isn’t that pretty cool?
Berlin is a wonderful place to stay at, maybe your next trip is leading you to Berlin?
