My Erasmus in Palma de Mallorca

Hi, it’s Sam again! Today I’m going to tell you about my Erasmus experience that I had two years ago.

During my university studies, I had the opportunity to study abroad as part of the Erasmus program. Studying english philology at the time, I wanted to go to a Spanish speaking country since it was the language I wanted to work on the most despite what I was studying. And one of the universities that offered such courses in Spain and that was a partner of my university was the UIB, la Universitat de las Illes Baleares. So, after sorting the different paperwork, I was off to Palma de Mallorca to live abroad for the first time.

How you can have a debt-free undergraduate degree: move abroad

Are you tired of seeing how everyone in your group of friends or in your family carries a debt of at least £30,000? University fees in the United Kingdom start at over £9000 a year, no matter what degree you are studying.

Students in the United Kingdom usually study undergraduate degrees which are 3 years long and usually take a year out before starting a Master’s degree. However helpful, the year out is not compulsory for every type of degree.

Say you want to study a 3-year-long undergraduate degree plus a 2-year-long Master’s degree. It’s a simple sum, you will end up with £45,000 to pay your student finance provider throughout your life.

Here’s our proposal:

My experience in Germany

The month of July was sprinkled with dozens of ‘first-times’ for me.

After being offered a grant from university, I found myself planning the trip to Munich, Germany. This was about to be the first time travelling entirely on my own to a country I have never been to before, speaking a language that I was not completely fluent in. Needless to say, I was more than nervous.

Studying across Europe with help from Erasmus+

Studying across Europe with help from Erasmus+

In the working society we live in it is expected to have experience and where can you get this better then abroad? It does not matter where you study nowadays, doing an internship abroad, at the other side of Europe for example, will be expensive. Think about accommodation, plane tickets, insurance and funding. For young adults it can be difficult and perhaps chaotic to think about all these different things beside their own studies.
